The Entombment, Stazione Ultima (XIV), 1747-9
from the Stations of the Cross, 16 plates, including the frontispiece and dedication. This series is Giandomenico's earliest etched work, 1747-9. Reference: Rizzi 54 DeVesme 49 , only state. 280 x 215 mm; 11x 8 1⁄2 in. A brilliant impression, full margins, in excellent condition.
Ex Coll: Tomas Harris, 10 April 1908 - 27 January 1964, (not in Lugt) his signature in brown ink on verso. According to Rizzi, this Rembrandtesque composition demonstrates a new departure for the artist.
